HOMER PUBLIC LIBRARY

LIBRARY SERVICES

The Homer Public Library features:

• A 6,400 square foot brick and field stone building connected to the present 750 square foot historic structure which will then house the Homer Community Foundation office
• Children's book collection and reading area; comfortable adult reading area
• Expanded shelving for fiction, reference materials, magazines and videos
• Meeting room, work room, storage
• Computers with public Internet access
• Easy accessibility for all patrons through front and rear entrances
• Anchoring the southeastern portion of the Greg Barton Circle and the veterans memorial walkway
• Meeting the library needs of the Homer area now and in the future

Preliminary estimates indicate it cost well over $500,000 to build and furnish the proposed library. The money to do this will come from donations and possible grants. The project will proceed as finances allow. Generous contributions have already been made, but additional funds must be raised before construction can be authorized.

Over 19,000 items are borrowed annually by 3,138 patrons of the Homer Public Library. It is open 37 hours each week serving the Village of Homer and Albion, Clarendon, Eckford and Homer townships:

• With over 12,000 books including large print editions
• 260 audio books and over 100 videos
• Up-to-date reference materials
• 30 different magazines
• Internet service
• Preschool story time, Wednesdays at 9 a.m.
• Summer reading program for 405 students in 1999
• Fax and copy machines for patrons
